Winch for lifting artilleries

the museum model

The winch is used to move heavy artillery. Its structure has a typical "goat-shape". The lifting or lowering is performed thanks to a worm screw and a spiral wheel functioning as female screw. The movement caused the central axis, from where the cannon was hanging, to oscillate slowly. The drawings, supported by notes and details, are dedicated to two kinds of machines: one used to lift columns and bombards, the other used for horizontal transportation of heavy weights.
