This collection shows the main technologies for recording and reproducing sound, from the phonograph in 1887 to the modern 25GB Blu-Ray DVD player. Devices and supports are displayed according to their working principles: mechanical, electromechanical, magnetic and optical. Gramophones, portable phonographs, wire recorders, tape and CD recorders tell the story of this development. In a listening room, an interactive software device allows the reconstruction a sound chain by choosing a passage, a support, a reproduction and amplification device.
