The model of the concave mirror polishing machine is constituted of an abrasive disk resting vertically on a concave Plexiglas surface (simulating the mirror to be polished). The disk is secured on a transmission shaft coupled with a toothed wheel that, in turn, engages a pinion. The pinion, in turn, engages a horizontal toothed wheel mounted beneath the Plexiglas disk. The crank is turned to produce two movements: the rotation of the vertical abrasive disk and the simultaneous movement of the horizontal concave mirror mounted on the toothed wheel. The purpose is to obtain a perfectly polished surface, without imperfections.
