This drum on wheels is designed to be attached to a cart and work automatically taking advantage of its movement. The drum was able to reproduce a rhythm that repeated cyclically, probably for following troops: the axle of the cart’s wheel actuates a toothed wheel connected to a shaft which in turn triggers two cylinders equipped with notches of different heights which actuate five strikers, or beaters, on each side of the drum.
