Breech-loading naval cannon

Cannone navale a retrocarica

Model of a breech-loading mortar meant for a ship deck. The breech (i.e. the rear part of the mortar barrel where the metal balls were loaded) was fixed to the cannon by means of a conical screw operated through a worm gear crank.
