The departments

During more than 50 years of history, the Museum has gathered and preserved a remarkable heritage, documenting important stages of the scientific and technological development, with particular reference to our Country.
The original museological project is focused on the topics of work and industrial production and it exhibits the collections in sections, according to a historical principle.

The Museum is dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, symbol of the continuity between scientific-technological and artistic culture. In accordance with its history and identity, the Museum has launched a transformation process in cooperation with scientific committees with the objective, among others, of reinterpreting the collections and reorganizing the historic sections in relation to current science and technology. Interactive labs are designed to integrate the exhibition sections. They make use of informal education to involve and to engage every kind of public.

The collections and interactive laboratories are now organized in Departments: Materials, Transports, Energy, Communications, Leonardo Arte & Science, New Frontiers , Science for young children.

Each Department develops studies and researches on the collections, they design and propose thematic exhibitions on educational activities, and promote conferences and workshops. Conservation and educational aspects are constantly developed, identifying the Museum as a place that guards and communicates a heritage rich in memories.
