Which days is the Museum open?
Every day, except 25th December, 1st January and working Mondays.
What are the opening hours?
Tuesday to Friday: 9.30 - 17.00
Weekends and holidays: 9.30 - 18.30
Last entrance 30 minutes before closing.
How much does the entrance ticket cost?
Full price 8.00 Euros, concessions 6.00 Euros (under 18, discounts), free entrance for disabled visitors and accompanying person, children under 3 yrs, adults over 65, ICOM members, the armed forces, journalists with press card. Do I need to book to visit the Museum?
No, just come straight to the ticket office on the day you want to visit, and buy a ticket.
Does the Museum offer guided tours in English?
Yes, for organised groups and by booking only. For more information please see the groups section.
Is it possible to take part in educational activities in English?
Yes, for organised groups the Museum offers (by booking) many activities in the interactive laboratories, and historical collections as well as guided tours of the Enrico Toti submarine. For more information please see the groups section.
What are the i.labs?
Alongside its collections the Museum has 15 interactive laboratories: in these areas physical or chemical phenomena, production processes and theatrical activities take place. Visitors take part in hands-on activities, guided by the leader: you can learn to make indestructible soap bubbles, build robots, try out Leonardo's inventions and much more.
How can I have a guided tour in English of the Enrico Toti submarine?
Guided tours in English are only offered to organised groups with a minimum of 10 people, subject to booking. You'll find all the information you need to book in the groups section.
Can I book for the activities taking place during the weekend?
Yes, but only on the same day as the visit, at the Museum info-point. The weekend activities are only available in Italian.
Is there a charge for weekend activities (activities in the interactive laboratories, guided tours, theatre at the Museum)?
No, these are all included in the entrance ticket, except for the guided tour of the Toti submarine.
How long does it take to visit the whole Museum?
The Museum contains a vast amount of material. It consists of more than 10,000 exhibits including real objects and models. The exhibition sections cover 23,000 m² out of a total surface area of 40,000 m² . A full visit, without time spent looking closely at details, will take at least 2-3 hours.
Can I take photos?
Only amateur photography without flash or tripod is allowed inside the Museum.
