THE FRAGMENT OF MOON ROCK
A little priceless rock, that symbolizes technology evolution and world peace.
Donated by USA President Richard Nixon, to the Italian Government In 1973, as a sign of closeness and cooperation of the United States, the object is a basalt fragment from the Moon surface brought to Earth by Apollo 17 astronauts. It comes from an area called 'Taurus Littrow Valley' and it was collected by Captain Eugene Cernan at the end of the mission (7th -19th December, 1972).
That was the last journey of human beings to the Moon, it was carried to the satellite by Harrison Schmitt, the first astronaut-scientist and pilot of the lunar module.
